Alyssa on the Power of Friendship

Hello, beauts! My name is Alyssa, I have been blogging for a couple years now. I wanted to share my story on the power of friendship and what friendship means to me. I am featuring two of the most amazing people in my life, and you guys will have the chance to get to know more about them!

Friendship is a powerful thing, and some people underestimate just how important friends are in your life. I can proudly say that I have two main best friends, and you know what? That’s all I need. I have many friends, but there are two that stand out to me and the only two that I really need in life.

Your friends help define who you are as a person and help you grow in so many ways. My friends are considered my sisters, my role models and the ones who will always be there for me. I absolutely love them, and I am going to tell you a bit more about my friendship with them, but first, I think you need to know more about them as individuals… Let’s get on a more personal level.

I met Katherine in my second year of university, when we found ourselves as roommates. I can not emphasize just how important of a role she plays in my life. When I was going through a very rough time in university dealing with my anxiety, Katherine was always there for me like a big sister.

I had to miss a bit of school, and when I returned, she had orchestrated a whole surprise for me! Katherine decorated all of the walls in my room with positivity posters emphasizing how grateful it is to be alive, to be breathing, to be HERE. I couldn’t have asked for a better friend!

I would not be where I am today without her support through the years. Katherine is the type to speak her mind, to say what she is thinking and to stand up for what she believes in.

One day, when somebody very close to me was in desperate need of advice, love, and support, Katherine wrote these beautiful words.

She wrote, “This is for the girl that needs to know and realize how loved she is. This is for the girl that is struggling with confidence, self-respect, self-love, and appreciation. This is for the girl that is struggling with everyday stuff like getting out of bed, or holding a conversation. This is for the girl struggling with life. Life is a very strange thing. There are ups and downs: you’re angry, you’re sad, you’re emotionless. But all of these emotions and feelings come with life.

Life is one of the most precious things that you will ever be given. Nothing will ever compare to it. There are over 7 billion people in this world, but you, struggling girl, were only given one. And your life is the only life like yours. There is no other girl like you, struggling girl. You’re one of a kind.

You may not see it now, but you are loved. You are loved by so many. Your family, your friends, people you have not even met yet. You have so much more of life to live, you have so many more people to meet and to love you. You will be loved at every stage in your life”

Needless to say, Katherine is amazing. To this day we are still best friends and continue to grow closer than ever. I couldn’t imagine my life without her, and every day is a blessing having her in my life.

I met Jessica in my first year of university. Let’s just say we were both very different people. It took a little longer to get to the closeness we have now. Jessica always kept me on top of homework when I loved doing things last minute (and still to this day love to do things last minute… that has not changed!)

Jessica is an outdoorsy girl who enjoys camping, hiking, and new adventures. She is one of the sweetest girls I know, who puts always others before herself. You can always count on Jessica for anything and she is always a shoulder to cry on. Jessica is the type of girl who will put everything aside for you and listen to everything you have to say or if you need to vent. Life wouldn’t be the same without her, she is such a beautiful soul inside and out. Life is always an adventure with her, s’mores, bonfires and all!

Even though we’re growing up, our lives are changing and new adventures are coming our way, we never lose touch with one another. In fact, we all have matching tattoos of a compass and the words, “no matter where” to emphasize that no matter where we are in the world, we will always be there for one another.

Having long distance best friends is not easy, but having faith and hope keeps us going. The power of friendship is amazing. Treat your friends so well and you will never lose touch with them. Your friends will always be there for you no matter what if they are true friends, and I can truly say that Katherine and Jessica are my guardian angels.

Thanks for listening beauts! Thanks again to Friendship Socks for allowing me to collaborate with you on this fun and upbeat post! I love how I can be open and share my life with you through blogging. Take Care xo
